Badminton
is a sport that can be played by anybody of any age or gender with ease – be
that small children, teenagers, adults, or elderly person. It is a game that
requires players in single, doubles and mixed doubles between two teams. Playing
it in rooftops, in winter season, is an old trend that got a rising new flame because of the
pandemic situation.
Benefits
Although
in general eye this game looks like an easy one but when you raise the stake of
this game beyond simple fun of back and forth passing of the shuttlecock (or “birdie”
in North America), it becomes extra fun to both watch and play.
Being competitive at this sport also benefits one to have a form of effective exercise
by exerting energy through all kinds of bodily movement – jumping, running,
walking back and forth, using footwork, even diving if you take it too
seriously! As a cherry on top, all of these are to be done in the quickest way
possible!
It does boost up mental abilities too as it requires combining eye and hand
co-ordination, speed, and decision-making skills.
It’s a non-contact
sport which is a plus point to be played in this pandemic of COVID-19 disease. So, beside keeping your apartment secured from this, you are already getting a hassle-free sport to play on your rooftop that can have hardly any effect on your health from COVID-19.
Rooftop to the Rescue
Now-a-days, with regular interval (and arrival) of travel restriction,
lockdown, restricted movement, and less playgrounds around us, it’s high time
we adapted to the new reality by generalizing playing badminton on our house
rooftops. Some place even requires membership to play; Why bother doing that if
you have your own rooftop?
Badminton
is a sport that requires high quality equipment like rackets, shuttlecock, and
nets between the court. As we are talking about playing it on rooftops, a
safety net around the whole court is a must, for both the security of equipment
and of human lives!
Powerline
Do not install the power connection of lighting around
the court by yourselves (unless you are a professional electrician or engineer
yourself). For the season, it’ll only needed to be installed and removed once,
so, hire an electrician to do this job. It’s just a game to play with other people,
not with death.
Equipment gathering
Besides the sports equipment of this game, remember to
buy and install large safety nets around the court to avoid very possible
shuttlecock “overboard” and hardly probable “man overboard” situation. Also buy
or gather larger poles which are to be used as the structural support for the
safety net.
Decoration of the court
If you
want a professional look for the court, you can buy paint and brush to draw the
lines of the court. Don’t worry, they do come off if you know the right ingredient to use on it. If you want low maintenance, chalks would do just fine,
you might just have to buy more of these.
Have a happy Winter season!
